Bob Webb, Ph.D., F.Erg.S., F.ACE, CHFP.
President and Principal Human Factors Consultant
Dr Webb founded HSI® in 1982 and has directed, managed and/or participated in over two hundred Human Factors projects for the Department of National Defence (army, navy and air force), transportation, emergency services, and a wide variety of industrial settings. His Human Factors consulting work at HSI® spans applied research and development, trials and evaluation.
Bob originally qualified as an army engineer and, after ten years service, left to take degrees in psychology (B.Sc London University) and Environmental Design and Engineering (Ph.D. University College, London).
Other than HSI®, his work experience includes military operations, combat engineering, project management, trades training and staff experience in Malta, Libya, Cyprus, Hong Kong and the U.K.; Human Factors research while a Medical Research Council Research Fellow at University College London; and ten years research and teaching in Human Factors as an Associate Professor at the University of Guelph, Ontario.
Other professional experience includes chair of technical committees for the Canadian Standards Association, the National Research Council, and Technical and Organizing Committees for several Human Factors Conferences. Over the years, Bob has given numerous presentations and workshops on Human Factors in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. He is a Past President and Fellow of the Association of Canadian Ergonomists, a Member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, a Certified Human Factors Professional (Board of Certification of Professional Ergonomists), a Member of the British Psychological Society, a Fellow of the Ergonomics Society, a Member of the Intelligent Transportation Society of Canada and a Member of the Project Management Institute.
