Who We Need – Here’s What We Are Looking For

Interest and capability in applied research (e.g., research methods, data collection experience), Human Factors methods (e.g., usability and user-centred design), parametric and non-parametric statistics, literature searches and technology reviews, questionnaire and survey design, and strong technical writing skills.

We look for degrees in Kinesiology, Engineering, or Psychology and demonstrated interest in Human Factors/Ergonomics and/or applied research. Be sure to tell us about your relevant coursework, projects, and thesis work.

Well-rounded, personable, and intelligent team players. We need people who can learn fast, work hard, and thrive under pressure.

Travel takes consultants out of the office up to 30% of the time, for trips up to 3 weeks in duration. You will need to love the great outdoors as we go wherever the projects take us.

Experience within relevant industries and bilingual (French) would be a plus.

Canadian citizenship is necessary for some of the work we do.

Position Required – Marketing Assistant

  1. The company
    HSI® is a 15 person B2B/B2G firm of R&D professionals founded in 1982. We are a small, friendly, fast-paced team that undertakes R&D projects for large organisations in North America.  We apply our knowledge about human abilities and our research skills to benefit overall system, team and individual well-being and performance.  Our R&D services focus on user needs during system integration, development of new technologies, or large scale acquisition of equipment or clothing.  Our client base is mainly in Defence.  Our goal is to expand within Defence and to diversify to other sectors.  We believe that people are the most important and complex part of any system.
  2. The Job
    In this job you will research data on market opportunities and track contacts and leads to support closing of B2B/B2G professional services sales. The support you will provide within Team HSI® includes administration of trade show bookings, our social media activities and our Client Relationship management software.  You will monitor trends in services and sectors of interest.  You will report to the HSI® manager of marketing and sales.

  3. Responsibilities
    You will need know how to:
    -Use the internet to gather marketing data and to research opportunities in different sectors.
    -Use Word, Excel, Outlook, CRM and other software.
    -Work collaboratively with our technical staff to prepare quotes or proposals.
    -Independently perform a broad range of marketing administration tasks.
    -Multi-task, write well and handle tight deadlines.
    -Think creatively and act practically.
  4. Qualifications
    You must have 2-4 years experience as a marketing assistant with good references
    – preferably for B2B professional services. Not product sales.
    You will have a good business background – likely with a business diploma or degree.
    You want a flexible part-time position.
